Some days I get a taste of the bad nights
I'm not struggling and I can't even rhyme right
I put a pen to the paper and I can't even write
I'm telling myself not to ask you anything tonight
I'll be to you
What the daylight is to the moon
I'll be to you
What a lie is to the truth
The distance is irrelevant
The signals are everywhere
I've learned to forget them
You were always good at that
Did you get a sense of the limelight
The centre of attention
That's just what your life's like
Speaking louder than needed
In hopes they'll overhear our conversations
As dull as they were
They still kept us up at night
Girl, will you carry the mantle
Will you carry my burdens through
Will you live in shame at my mistakes
Or will you make the same ones too
I'll be to you
What the outside is to the comfort of your room
I'll be to you
All we know to all we never knew
The timing was irrelevant
The signals were everywhere
I've just learned to forget them
Weren't you always good at that

Remember how Bill Murray woke up to I Got You Babe every day in Groundhog Day? If that song would have been Made Of Moods, he at the very least experienced three and a half perfect minutes each day. It’s one of those songs that I enjoy each and every second of, with it’s jangly guitars and hushed vocals that almost have a Beach Boys vibe, especially in the verse. Truly, it’s a song for the ages. But the best news about Still Life is that it offers eleven additional underground pop gems. Niek || Add To Wantlist
